Paramount Plus is media powerhouse ViacomCBS’ new streaming service. The service covers content from the properties under the giant’s banner, including CBS, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, MTV, and naturally, Paramount Pictures.

Locally, Paramount Plus replaced 10 All Access, and, as such, it also includes Australian content from Ten.

At $9.99 per month, Paramount Plus is cheaper than most streaming services available in Australia.

What is showing on Paramount Plus?

Locally Paramount Plus has a huge range of original content and has brought every show and movie on 10 All Access over with it. This includes titles like NCIS, The Traitors, Survivor, and Hunted.

Paramount Plus also features original content dubbed Paramount Plus Originals. Some of these include Tulsa King starring Sylvester Stallone, Yellowjackets and 1883 and 1923 — prequels to the Yellowstone franchise.

Paramount Plus naturally features movies from Paramount, but they aren’t necessarily exclusive. The service will seemingly have first dibs, however.

Paramount Plus is also home to the A-League and W-League in Australia, thanks to an exclusive five-year partnership. While one A-League and one W-League match will be available on free-to-air per week, Paramount Plus will be the only place to watch every game.

How much data does Paramount Plus use?

Paramount Plus’ documentation doesn’t disclose how much data it uses, however, advises a minimum streaming requirement of 4Mbps or more to watch comfortably. Expect to use around 3GB per hour for high-definition video or 7GB per hour for 4K, based on other streaming services.

If you’re connected to WiFi but say mobile data will vary based on the quality of your mobile connection. Paramount Plus’ mobile data usage can fluctuate between 74MB per hour with a poor connection and can go as high as 800MB per hour with a good connection.

How do I sign up for Paramount Plus?

There are a few steps to signing up for a Paramount Plus subscription:

As with signing up for a free trial, you’ll need to log onto the Paramount Plus app via your Smart TV, streaming device or web browser.
You’ll need to provide your Full Name, Email address and create a password.
Next, you’ll choose your plan. This will either be monthly charged at $9.99 per month or annually charged at $89.99 after your seven-day trial ends (provided you’re a new customer). Paying annually will lock you in for a whole year but you’ll save 24%.
Fill out your card details to verify payment. Paramount Plus accepts Visa, Mastercard and American Express. You can also enter a promotional code at this point if you have one.
Once you complete these steps and click Agree and Subscribe you will be acknowledging you have read and agree to Paramount Plus’ subscription terms. You won’t be billed until the end of your free seven-day trial and if you cancel your trial before this point, you won’t be charged.

Disney Plus: The central hub for all things Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel, Fox, and Star — a unique category of shows and movies for those who aren’t into Sci-Fi or animation. Though it’s one of the pricier services at $13.99 per month, you’ll never be bored on Disney Plus with shows like Ahsoka, the new season of Futurama and The Bear.

Amazon Prime Video: One of the most perk-filled streaming services in Australia, customers with an Amazon Prime Video subscription also score access to exclusive sales and discounted shipping on select Amazon products. The library is not as extensive as what you’ll find on Netflix or Disney Plus but it does offer exclusive content such as Good Omens and The Grand Tour.
